SolidCraft

Run SolidCraft in your browser

The official web build, loaded right here. No install, no account. Desktop browser with a mouse recommended.

Loads the free web build (a few MB). Your models stay in your browser.

Next: get the desktop app

We picked your system. Files come straight from the official GitHub release (always the latest version).

The installers are not code-signed yet, so Windows or macOS may warn you the first time. How to get past the warning.

SolidCraft is a free, open-source parametric 3D CAD application written in pure Rust. You sketch a 2D profile, add dimensions and constraints, then turn it into a solid with features like extrude, revolve and fillet. Every step lands on an editable timeline, so changing one number later rebuilds the whole model. It runs as a desktop app on Windows, macOS and Linux, as a web app in your browser, and as a command-line tool that AI agents can drive through MCP.

The tool at the top of this page loads the official web build so you can try it in a few seconds, then hands you the right installer for your computer.

What you can do with SolidCraft

SolidCraft covers the everyday parts of mechanical CAD. Its feature list counts more than 370 commands. The ones most people reach for first:

File formats

Format Open Save / export
STEP (AP203/214/242) Yes Yes (AP242)
IGES Yes Yes
STL, 3MF, OBJ Yes (as mesh) Yes
glTF Yes (as mesh) No
DXF / SVG Into a sketch DXF
FreeCAD .FCStd, Rhino .3dm Desktop app only No

That makes SolidCraft a practical choice for 3D printing: model the part, export STL or 3MF, and send it to your slicer.

Desktop, browser or command line?

Our SolidCraft download guide lists every installer and how to get past the "unknown publisher" warnings.

SolidCraft and AI agents (MCP)

SolidCraft ships an MCP server, so an AI assistant can create, measure and export models for you. In Claude Code it takes one line: claude mcp add solidcraft -- solidcraft-cli mcp. The SolidCraft MCP setup page has the Claude Desktop config, the full tool list and the file-access rules.

How it compares

SolidCraft is young. The first release came out on 9 October 2026 under the name SolveCraft, and the project has been shipping several releases a day since. It uses the truck B-rep kernel written in Rust, not OpenCASCADE like FreeCAD. If you are choosing between them, read SolidCraft vs FreeCAD. If you just want to make something, the SolidCraft tutorial walks through a first part step by step.

C Circle H Hole
D Dimension I Measure

All shortcuts can be remapped under File › Keyboard Shortcuts.

Is it the right tool for you?

SolidCraft suits makers, hobbyists and engineers who want a free parametric modeller that feels closer to Fusion-style tools than to older open-source CAD. The project itself says it is early: 2D drawings are not built yet, STEP assemblies are flattened on import, and threads are faceted. For brackets, enclosures, jigs and printable parts, it already does the job, and the browser version makes it quick to find out.

FAQ

Is SolidCraft free?

Yes. SolidCraft is open source under MIT or Apache-2.0 (your choice). There is no paid tier, no account and no license server. You can use the desktop app, the browser app and the command-line tool for free.

Is SolidCraft the same as SolveCraft?

Yes. The project shipped its first releases as SolveCraft (v0.1.0 on 9 October 2026) and renamed itself SolidCraft in v0.5.0 on 12 October 2026. Old .solvecraft files still open in SolidCraft.

Does SolidCraft run on a Mac?

Yes. The release page has a universal macOS disk image for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It is not notarized yet, so the first time you open it, right-click the app in Applications and choose Open.

Can I use SolidCraft without installing anything?

Yes. The official web build runs in the browser. Use the Launch button at the top of this page or open it in its own tab. Designs you save in the browser stay in that browser's storage, so download a copy of anything you want to keep.

What file formats can SolidCraft open and export?

It reads and writes STEP and IGES. It exports STL, 3MF and OBJ for 3D printing, imports glTF meshes, and brings DXF and SVG into sketches. The desktop app can also import FreeCAD .FCStd and Rhino .3dm files.

Is SolidCraft ready for real work?

Its own README calls it 'early but usable for simple parts'. Brackets, enclosures and 3D-printable parts are a good fit today. 2D drawings are not built yet, and some advanced fillets and shells only work on simple geometry.

Who makes SolidCraft? Is this the official site?

SolidCraft is developed by GitHub user bherbruck. This site is an independent guide and is not affiliated with the project. The official home is the GitHub repository at github.com/bherbruck/solidcraft.
